Did you know that every grant application to CFE is evaluated by at least three separate volunteers? We host review opportunities each November, December, February, March, May, and July, and encourage you to participate as you’re able.
Some of these reviews are completed independently, while others are conducted in a more collaborative, roundtable fashion. No prior experience reading or writing grant proposals is necessary.

Small Grant Review Sessions - November 12, 13 & 14
CFE’s Small Grant program provides funding for classroom and school-wide projects that respond to specific academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Grants are awarded to teachers, social workers, librarians, and others to cover the costs of books, supplies, general classroom materials, field trip fees, and additional expenses that help deepen student engagement and promote active learning.
Volunteers have two options for reviewing grants:
Join us in person at the CFE offices (641 W Lake Street, Suite 200) and enjoy light snacks and the camaraderie of fellow reviewers OR
Review grants remotely from the comfort of your own home or favorite local coffee shop
*We are counting on your commitment to review; please be sure you are ready to commit and will submit your reviews by the deadline (Tuesday, November 19, 2019)
Notes to Know
Current CPS educators are not eligible for this volunteer opportunity.
No prior grant review experience is necessary to volunteer. Our CFE team will provide you with everything that you need to know.
